History and heritage of the Paris police

The Parisian police are closely linked to the history of the capital and have accompanied many upheavals and dramas from the Middle Ages to the present day. They have therefore left their mark on the city's heritage. While Parisians generally only remember the repressive aspect, it must be emphasized how much police action, and that of the services associated with it, ensures public tranquility in very diverse ways, ranging from air quality to surveillance of the Seine.
