Bécassine The Viking Treasure DVD

Bécassine leaves her beloved Brittany and arrives in Paris to take care of Charlotte. Charlotte's mother, married to Edmond, a photographer on a reporting trip to the North Pole, is preparing to leave for Venice to participate in a sculpture competition. But Bécassine and Charlotte will soon be drawn into an adventure full of twists and turns, from Marseille to Spain via Lapland in an attempt to unravel the mystery of Edmond's disappearance. Adapted from the famous comic strip of the same name, Bécassine delightfully immerses us in an old-fashioned France, while modernizing the adventures of the most famous of Bretons. Swirling animation, constant twists and turns, and judicious dubbing—Muriel Robin excels in the title role—make this animated film an exemplary success, proving (once again) that French studios can easily compete with Disney productions when they give themselves the means—even in the songs, performed here by Enzo Enzo, Clarika, and Zabou Breitman. The DVD, teeming with exciting bonus features, will convince skeptics and, above all, delight younger viewers, who will discover a new friend, with a charming, old-fashioned headdress and uniform.
