18th century, the Emperor of Russia Peter the Great must raise funds to wage a war against the Swedes and put an end to the bloody conflicts that ravage his empire. The young Russian officer Ivan Demarin is sent to the distant fortress of Tobolsk, in the heart of wild Siberia, with the mission of collecting and bringing back gold.
But between conspiracy and betrayal, several destinies will cross in this damned place, where the freezing cold is merciless. Ivan finds himself fighting a Swedish officer experienced in the art of war that the terrible Dzungar Mongols have captured and forced to fight at their side.
