The Management of Cultural Enterprises

The development of higher education programs in cultural professions, the proliferation of books and professional or academic journals on the theme of management in cultural enterprises reflect the growing interest that practitioners, consultants, and teacher-researchers have in the creative field. For many observers of cultural activities, the challenge of improving their performance goes beyond the divisions between subsidized and non-subsidized activities and between public and private companies. Improving the quality of management of activities and people in these companies is a condition for their survival and development in the service of artistic projects. Experimenting with innovative management practices within cultural enterprises also provides an opportunity to enrich the concepts and methods of change management in organizations.

Since 1988, with the support of the Ministry of Industry, ISEOR has organized an annual conference around a central theme: "Quality of the company and professionalism of consultants." It brings together consultants, experts, managers of companies and public and private organizations.

The specific theme of this fourteenth edition of the proceedings of the 2001 conference is "The management of cultural enterprises" organized in partnership with the National Opera of Lyon.
