What did the Bonapartes die of? After a first book devoted to the autopsy of Napoleon I and the updating of all the errors made on the causes of his death over the past two centuries, the idea was born to look into the health problems of his parents, his brothers and sisters, his son and some nephews. It did not take long to discover that several of them had been given erroneous diagnoses, some of which were made or even "imposed" by the most illustrious of the Bonapartes. Indeed, this book allows us to see the Emperor's profound ignorance of medicine, a discipline that had nevertheless begun to modernize under his reign. Medicine and the navy, these two fields remained incomprehensible to him despite all his intellectual and cognitive qualities. Furthermore, we discover the close links between several members of the Bonaparte siblings and that all their letters always contain a few words about their state of health. Napoleonic medicine remains a fascinating field that is still too little known.
