Choosing a Craftsman's Soul.
Choosing a Craftsman's Soul.
The notion of individual "potential" keeps us in suspense and fuels many fantasies... Potential is too often confused with the evaluation of performance, considered "variable geometry" or even "evaluated" without being correctly objectified.
Yet it is assessed for everyone and everywhere, and is often compared to the air we breathe: it exists, it is vital, but difficult to weigh... The proof: only 1/3 of employees believe they have the opportunity to exploit their resources at work, which means a lost working life for the other two thirds...
This observation is all the more frustrating since the evaluation and development of each person's potential is the first condition for lasting individual satisfaction and collective success.
However, potential is not a "black box", is not arbitrary and is not a "philosopher's stone". It can be objectified and appreciated through the demonstration of precise, homogeneous and constant behaviors. These behaviors demonstrate the existence of our abilities to learn, which allow us to progress in the exercise of our activities and to take on broader responsibilities, in the short or medium term.
Each of us has potential and the means to develop it: this development requires in particular "stepping outside our framework", by thinking and acting like a "craftsman". This "craftsman" behavior makes it possible to mobilize the right levers to fully exploit our freedom of action and our capacities.
Finally, potential only exists through its visibility: it is important to understand which “signals” send others the best perception of our potential.
This work has the following objectives:
• To clarify and objectify the notion of individual potential
• To provide the keys to enhancing our potential in the eyes of others
• To describe the “artisanal” behaviors that allow us to exploit our talents and enhance our difference
