The story begins one Christmas Eve... Jyltyl and Myltyl find themselves alone, because their mother who is sick has been hospitalized. The fairy Berilune, attracted by the sadness of the two brothers and sisters, offers them a pendant which will open the door to the magical worlds.

Jyltyl and Myltyl must look for the Blue Bird, the only one capable of healing their mother.
