Men of good will 14 CD jules romains
Men of Good Will , published from 1932 to 1946, is Jules Romains' major work. This fresco in twenty-seven volumes, whose action extends from 1908 to 1933, offers a vast staging of the first quarter of the twentieth century shaken by the war of 1914 and by the social upheavals that preceded and followed it. A multitude of characters, from all social classes, good and bad wills are there, recreated with astonishing breath by a novelist who is a perfect master of his craft. This publishing event, the previous ones of which were called La Comédie humaine or Les Rougon-Macquart , then found an exceptional extension thanks to the recordings that have remained unpublished until today – that Jules Romains made for the radio in 1952. He succeeded in fact, after a meticulous work of selection, in condensing and presenting in twenty-seven readings – as many as volumes of the work and gathered here in fourteen discs – the essential part of his novel.
It is therefore with the greatest pleasure that we will follow Jules Romains, in turn narrator, actor, reproducing their dialogues, himself diving into Les Hommes de bonne volonté to extract the most beautiful pages, which he interprets with remarkable presence, warmth and truth. A great work, which has become a sound monument.
