The artist's personality is a curious encounter of extreme strengths and weaknesses. In him, more than in any other, the impulses of life and death are unleashed. Like the work of art, writing expresses the unconscious of its author. The author focuses his study on a hundred writings, through three stages of creativity: the birth of the vocation through each of the Freudian stages (oral, anal, phallic), the phenomenon of sublimation and the constitution of the self; the elaboration of the work from external reality, according to Jungian functions (sensation, feeling, intuition); the restitution of the work to the world, which makes the artist a being both different from others and interpreter of all.
