A long life gave Pierre Albert-Birot [1876 - 1967] eighty years of creation: sixty years of writing, preceded by two decades of sculpture and painting.
In January 1916, he was "born" with his magazine SIC and engaged in literary battles. Day after day, the poet invented himself at the same time as a considerable body of work was built: collections of poems, plays, prose works, and of course the epic of Grabinoulor.
Ten years of research into the poet's life, his archives, and his work, have allowed Marie-Louise Lentengre to reconstruct the inner adventure of a being and the slow blossoming of a personality, to grasp its hesitations, and to see the man's doubts metamorphose into the triumph of writing.
